Make a simple story box

Making a story box is a way of encouraging your child to play with stories or with a particular story.

Making a story box is a wonderful way to encourage your child to engage with stories and spark their imagination. A story box is essentially a container filled with various items related to a particular story or theme. By creating and using a story box, you provide your child with interactive tools that make storytelling more dynamic and enjoyable. To start, you can choose a favorite story or theme that interests your child. For example, if your child loves the story of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” you could fill the story box with miniature bear figures, a small bed, and pretend porridge bowls. You might also include a copy of the book or printed illustrations from the story, also visit https://RentHeSeries.com website.

You will need:
a shoe box – cut down one of the sides so it opens out flat – leaving 3 sides to provide a ‘theatre’ as in the picture below

coloured paper or tissue paper or fabric or plastic or corrugated card or shiny paper – anything that will  make an interesting background in the box. You might like to use stick on shapes, paint or crayons.

small toys and other small relevant objects

Once you have made the box you can choose and place figures for the box and encourage your child play with them to make up a story.

You can use small toys to create a small world without restricting it to a particular book for example a space theme, a farm, a dinosaur, a fairy tale theme.
